FAQ

Where are all the meditation sessions?

LotusClock is intended for self-guided meditations, meaning, complete silence and focus on the moment. Not instruction, or guided imagery.

What’s up with the flower?

The lotus avatar gives you a graphical representation of your mindful level for the week, based on mindful minutes in the Health app. If the petals are black, it’s a good sign that you could use some more mindfulness. Around twenty minutes per day should keep your avatar in a healthy state.

What are Interval chimes?

Interval chimes are periodic bells that help keep you focussed on your meditation. Traditionally, this would be a master whacking you on the back with a bamboo switch. A simple “ding,” prompting you to drop whatever thinking you may have accidentally become engaged in is much less painful.

What about focus modes?

No third-party app can automatically switch a focus mode on or off without your permission (it would defeat the purpose), so you will need to turn on Mindfulness Mode manually.

You can set up Mindfulness Mode to automatically engage when you launch the app, however, because LotusClock works when your screen dims, iOS assumes the app has quit and switches Mindfulness Mode off again. If you want to do this anyway, go to your iPhone’s Settings + Focus + Mindfulness. Under “Turn On Automatically”, tap on “Add Schedule or Automation,” then App, and choose LotusClock from the list.
